Now that I have started looking at the various roles of the TL, I can see how valuable and essential the TL is to the school community. From learning about the new, emerging technology to being a contributing member of curriculum development, TL's have a hand in everything!!
I found some more interesting clips that look at the TL's role in schools from practicing TL's.
In this one, Audrey discusses professional development and the role of TL in this training. She states that the TL can show teachers new and free resources and the various different programs that are designed to enhance learning. There are also activities for Gifted and Talented students that the TL has access to. The aim here is to provide for student differentation. Mary realises that it is up to the school to keep the library full of relevant resources so the TL can provide the necessary resources needed for the curriculum.

Lyn states that TL's have access to resource from the whole school, not just the library. Tony believes that the TL has the 'big picture' of the school - access to all teachers and students. TL's are also cooperative learning partners with teachers in that they assist with providing resources and ideas for Unit development. TL's are also a sounding board for ideas.

It seems to me that the TL is like that friend you turn to when you need someone: be it a listener, ideas man or cooperation on a plan.....who can live without that!!! TL's assist the school to run more smoothly on a daily or a long term basis.
